    Verdicchio is a white wine grape variety that has been cultivated for hundreds of years in the Marche region of central Italy. It is a versatile variety, used both for light, easy-drinking table wines, and for more complex, ageworthy examples. It is commonly lauded by critics as being one of Italy’s best white wine grape varieties. The grapes are harvested by hand, vinification takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, bottled during the spring subsequent to the harvest. Refinement and aged in bottles for several years for certain vintages. Brilliant straw-yellow colour with hints of green when young, tending towards golden with age.

    On the nose: Initially, intensely fruity, lemon, green apple with a floral background, finally complex with notes of flint stone

    On the palate: Good structure and balance with initial notes of freshness, lemon and grapefruit and final notes of pleasantly bitter sapidity (pleasant flavour from mineral salts), almond to finish

    Recommended combination with food: Seafood starters with a sauce; boiled fish or shellfish or fish cooked in a sauce, or roasted; pasta or rice with a white fish sauce or shellfish sauce; raw pork, salted meat of any kind; mixed fried meat and vegetables; medium matured cheeses.

    Serve at 8 – 10°C

    This Cabernet Sauvignon is produced with loving care from hand harvested grapes grown on stony and pebbly land inland of Venice.

    Ruby red colour with deep violet shades, it explodes with an intense bouquet of red berry and black cherry fruits and a slight herbaceous note. Velvety long finish with high and well balanced tannins.

    Recommended combination with food: roast or braised beef, fillet steak with fois gras and truffles, beef wellington, hard cheeses.

    A noble and important wine produced since 1985, it has risen to the highest podiums in the world. The grapes Montepulciano and Sangiovese are harvested by hand, fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks for 24 months and then stored in small oak barrels for at least 12 months followed by additional long aging in bottle.

    This wine has won multiple awards over the years, since first production.

     On the nose:  Intense and persistent, with fruity notes of ripe fruit and marasca cherry jam , floral with hints of withered red petals and flowers and light vegetal expressions. With aging, subtle ethereal notes of vanilla and licorice wood take over

     On the palate:  Medium to full-bodied, dry, soft, quite fresh, tannic, with subtle and persistent taste-olfactory notes of ripe red fruit, sweet spices with a hint of tar.

     Recommended combination with food:  First courses with meat sauce and game . Beef, pork, lamb cooked with sauces, flavored with garlic, rosemary and truffle, stuffed feathered game, aged cheeses also aged with herbs

    From the famed Terre de la Custodia vineyard, this wine is steeped in history.  The original vines were planted by Franciscan monks, who kept the secrets of the wine making in their cloisters, where the name “Custodia” originates.  This fabulous wine oozes character and flavours.  Made from 100% Grechetto grapes, it is enhanced by a small amount of oak fermentation and malolactic fermentation, then undergoes further ageing on the lees to create a wonderful combination of fruit, butteriness and white stone fruit flavours.

    Terre Bianche Alghero DOP Torbato

    Torbato is a grape variety with very ancient origins that is now grown only by Sella&Mosca. The vineyards are situated in the “Terre Bianche” area, which is named after the chalky soils derived from age-old marine sediment in the northwest corner of Sardegna. Pale straw yellow in colour with lovely golden hues.  This is a complex and well orchestrated wine, with fruity hints and characteristic varietal notes.  A smooth white wine that goes with many dishes.

    Pairing: a perfect match for pasta and bread dishes, hard cheese, white, roasted fish.

  • Cannonau Di Sardegna DOC

    This best-known Sardinian red grape variety is grown in the south-eastern corner of the Sella&Mosca estate in the Alghero region in the north east part of the island, exposed to the north-easterly winds.  Late ripening grape full of deep red fruit flavours, this wine is fermented in temperature-controlled vats on the skins.  It is then part aged in oak and reblended to give the final wine lovely violet, rose and cherry notes with a hint of spice.

    Pairing: best served with roasts, braised red meats, strong cheeses, cooked tomatoes and aubergines.

    Another from the famed Terre de la Custodia vineyard, this 2013 vintage is bursting with flavours, tannins and character.  Made from 70% Sangiovese grapes, 15% Montepulciano and 15% Sagrantino, this wine is full of flavours, depth and colour.  The post fermentation skin contact, followed by 8 months of oak ageing gives this wine a Barolo style body without the price tag.

    Pairing: best served with game, venison, pork and braised beef.
