  • Pelissero Barbera D'Alba

    PIANI BARBERA D’ALBA D.O.C.

    £22.10£132.60
     750ml Bottles

The location of this vineyard, the Piani hill, has always been well-known for high quality Barbera production, and the elegance of many Barbera (a grape traditionally rich in colour and acidity but poor in tannins) from the Langhe region has a good structure which gives to this wine a particular identity.

On the nose:  The very fine olfactory sensations grow slowly, providing first fruity nuances of blackberry and cooked plum and subsequently vinous, of fermentation, typical of Barbera, with the right aromatic contribution of wood

On the palate:  Acidic impressions characterise this wine which does not hide its tannic endowment. The good structural breadth makes it particularly interesting and has a persistent length.

Recommended combination with food:  A perfect match for:

    • Seared rabbit livers
    • Thai duck noodle soup
    • Roasted, herb-crusted lamb rack

    Serve at 16 – 18°C

  • Primitivo di Manduria

    Primitivo di Manduria

    £14.50£87.00

    750ml Bottles

Primitivo di Manduria is once again ranked as a top Italian red wine. This dark-skinned grape is used to make an intense, inky tannic red wine.  The flat clayey and calcareous terrain, and the hot dry climate, enable this grape to develop, ripen and mature, creating a mouth-feel that is full, smooth and silky. The grapes are hand-picked, destemmed and after crushing, go through a 7 day maceration at 25-26C the a period of malolactic fermentation.  Aged in stainless steel tanks until bottled.

On the nose: Luxurious perfume of ripe cherries, blackberries and plum with pleasant notes of chocolate and vanilla, wild berries jam, violet and pepper

On the palate: Remarkable structure, and soft thanks to the presence of sweet tannins, with a long, warm finish. High acidity and a full, rounded body.
